Request for Proposal (RFP): “Handbook on Myanmar Mangrove Management and Conservation for Climate Resilience”

Under the Denmark-Myanmar Country Programme 2016-2020, the Forest Department (FD) is currently implementing a five year (2018-2023) project of “Climate Adaptation in Coastal Communities of Myanmar: Improved Management of Mangrove Forests (The CCA Engagement)” with the support of Climate Envelope Fund mainly in Rakhine State and Tanintharyi Region to rehabilitate degraded mangroves and to build resilience of coastal communities to adapt the climate change.
The Project is requesting a National Expert/ Organization to submit a proposal to compile a handbook on technical aspects of mangrove management and conservation with social and participatory methods for a holistic approach. The audience will be broad-based and cross sector, illustrating the importance of mangroves for climate resilience across sectors and coastal stakeholders.
Duration of Assignment: Expected to start in May 2020, and expected to be completed by the end of April 2022.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Holding an inception consultation meeting with the CCA Engagement team and key stakeholders of the Forest Department.
2. Drafting the book manuscript.
3. Holding a completion consultation to present and discuss the final draft of the book manuscript with key stakeholders from the Forest Department and other relevant agencies.
4. A public book launch event.
Outputs from the Consultancy:
1. Structure (e.g. Table of Content) of the book, as agreed by the Inception Consultation Meeting.
2. Handbook: Myanmar Mangrove Management and Conservation for Climate Resilience (in English language, edited by language professionals, published in both softcopy and hardcopy).
3. Launch event presentation.
Requirements: National Experts/Organizations are eligible to apply this consultancy. The Service Provider (SP) will be an experienced mangrove expert/organization, with degrees in forestry, natural resource management and environment and long-term, scientific and mangrove research, conservation and management in Myanmar.
Deadline for Submission: 13th March 2020 (16:00 Hrs).
